Teachers No Longer Needed?

A recent article on our very own Westerly News audaciously titled, “Adaptive Learning with AI”, suggests that human teachers could soon be obsolete. The author gushes over an AI-powered “Personal Teaching Assistant” (PTA) that can supposedly provide students with limitless information and tailored solutions. This dangerous notion couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Human Touch

Will a machine ever truly understand the complexities of learning? Can it provide the emotional support and encouragement a student craves? Can it see the unique potential within a child the way a dedicated teacher can? The answer, quite simply, is no.

Technology vs. Humanity

Technology undoubtedly has its place in the classroom, but let’s not confuse tools with teachers. Education is about more than just facts and figures. It’s a transformative experience where human connection, empathy, and inspiration are vital ingredients. No algorithm can ever replicate that.
